Mellow Yellow Monday, Life is a bowl of cherries.

Life is a Bowl of cherries, who said that? I've been inspired by this photo to bake. My eldest son, loves cherries. I can't imagine why? I didn't really encourage the eating of cherries as a mom, because of my own experience. When my sister, Barbara and I were in our tweens our neighbour Mr. Ozomok had a cherry orchard way out there by the Cudney Tourist trap. He would often bring a truck load home of cherries that did not sell at the road side stand and we (Barbara and I) (because we were neighbors and you always helped your neighbor, without financial reward) would go door to door in god forsaken neighborhood where fruit stands were not and sell them, $3 a very large basket. We more than often would sell out. Now were we just good sales people, or did we look so pathetic that the buyers would just buy to support the struggling farmer, which we were not, nor was Mr. Ozomok. I don't know, but often it would be very hot and the smell of those berries would get up into your nostrils and stay there until the next evening. And then of course we got to keep the leftovers on those nights that it got dark before we sold out. Most of the time these cherries were at least a day old, so they were ripe. I got so sick of cherry soup that I haven't made it since I've cooked for myself. But my son on the other hand could eat cherries every opportunity he gets, even the frozen one's I buy for cheese cake. Anyway it's off to post my cheesecake recipe. Check back at Irene's Kitchen a little later if you feel like it.

because life is better with a splash of yellow.

Have a great Mellow Yellow Monday.

Mellow Yellow Monday, Rudy, Rudy, Rudy, Rydz

Welcome to Mellow Yellow Monday. We had a fabulous snow storm on Friday, and there wasn't a single colour around, well the weather got warm and all we have around us is grey, and dirty streets. So, I thought I'd post a little sunshine. Be sure to check out the other posts of mellow yellow here.
This is a postcard that I neglected to post on Friday, for Postcard Friendship Friday. I participated in the scrapping Olympics, (needless to say I'm not a gold metal winner). So I get easily distracted. Whilst I was scrapping I found this "recording" postcard it plays a polish tune. You can watch it here.
Have a great Monday.

Mellow Yellow Monday

I'm finally getting some energy back, so on Saturday, while everyone was otherwise occupied I decided to make some room in my kitchen cupboards. It's all Alice's fault, she returned a Christmas Cookie Plate, and of course I had no room for it. It was mine, it came out of those cupboards, but it was not going back. Well, you know how you buy something and put it away until it's Christmas. I bought these candy canes to make cookies, you crush the candy canes and put them on top of the cookie. Forgot all about them. While I was emptying the cupboard, there they were way back in the back. They are root beer flavoured. Wierd eh!

But they are also quite yellow striped.

Hence my Mellow Yellow Post.

Stay Mellow in spite of all the snow.

Mellow Yellow Monday

I've had my eye on this little boot for some time. It's been at the Millionaire's Daughter
and I just need to go in there even if my house is too full for any purchases. Not sure what I'm going to do with this but, I've neglected my Mellow Yellow posts of late, just because everything seemed to be green and red.

So here it is. Love that store...

I haven't participated in Mellow Yellow Monday for a few weeks, just because during the Christmas season all I seem to see is Red and Green, and Gold and Silver. But,we recieved this Christmas Greeting Card the other day, so even Christmas is better with a splash of yellow, not just red and green anymore. Who Knew?

Mellow yellow Monday

Well today it truly is mellow. Yeah right! It's been an odd back to school time. I feel like I'm running non stop. Well I guess I've been neglecting my household duties and someone finally noticed that I wasn't doing "it". Which of course is not true, I was still doing "it" but not as quickly as "they would like. Well in my leisure (huh) I noticed out my window that my roses were blooming in spite of this bitter cold. So I went out to bring it in from the cold. My young son was after a favourite shirt, which lay clean on the to be ironed pile, His words, " Mom maybe you could manage your time a little today, and do my laundry." Well I'll manage my time alright. I suppose bringing in the roses is considered to be frivolous waste of my time. Anyway... While I was standing and ironing, I was just thinking, look at this dusty mauve rose, it's all tight even when it's fully open, like she's opening up reluctantly,I've always associated that colour with elder ladies. The yellow, all bright and sunny, opens up all free and easy, like the sunshine, a colour I associate with happy young things. I know, I know I need to get back to "it". But a little distraction is not such a bad thing now is it? So how are you managing your time today? I'll be rolling up the rest of the garden, and doing the rest of the things I don't do, just doing "it". Happy Mellow Yellow, check out the rest of the gang at Mellow Yellow Monday.

P.S. Watch for an altered view of that chair in the background, coming soon to an upholstery class near me.

After reading Marie's the I've had quiche on the brain, and in my dreams, etc. So it only stands to reason that I would see Bisquick in my cupboard. If you hop over to Irene's Kitchen I'll share my devious methods with you.

Photo of a box of Bisquick I own.

Mellow Yellow Monday #39 Apparently some of my family finds it quite amusing that I participate in Mellow Yellow Monday. It's harder than one thinks. I know when you have a blog, you think about things around you that you could blog about. But putting your thought in a strict lane really is quite a challenge. I LOVE a Challenge. I'm walking a 100 miles challenge, I'm reading A_Z, and 3,4,5 and I hope I'm losing 10lbs, by Dec. 31st. So Mellow Yellow is a pleasure, no work, just thinking. Enjoy my orchid from a very warm greenhouse.

Mellow Yellow Monday #33

I know you must be sick of me posting my garden, but truly I'm out there so much working that it's great to actually see something happening that isn't a weed. I've been invaded with this clover like thing that I just cannot get rid of. I suspect by it's vast quantity that it may be the result of bird seed. When I first went out to pull the little darlings my water lilly was closed up as the sun came round it opened. I'm enjoying this because soon it will be fall, very soon.

If you click on it to make it larger you will see the muddy leaves on the water lily, all those down pours have splashed dirt onto the flower petals, short of the vacuming them I don't know what to do, so I'll let nature clean it up for me. Daniel is so into not disturbing the "eco" system of his/my pond.

Have a Mellow Yellow Monday. Check out the other posts here.

mellow yellow monday..

Welcome to my garden. We haven't had a great deal of rain in the last couple of weeks, so the pond keeps drying up. I've even had my first Racoon eating my fish, because of it, so we must be vigilant in topping it up each day. Well the price of pleasure I suppose. Enjoy Mellow Yellow Monday

Mellow Yellow Monday, Kooboosh

Well it's not Kooboosh, but Roy did a great job painting this bird. Who is Kooboosh? Kooboosh is a yellow canary my mother had always, it didn't matter how many canaries we had they were all named Kooboosh. I have Kooboosh's bird stand in my garden and have thought of what I could hang there other than a canary, (not sure my cat would like a canary in the house, or maybe I'm sure he would)so yesterday on my antiquing trek looking for china to smash for my mosaic bird bath I found this very well painted wind chime. I know how much work goes into these "little" projects and Roy's family donated it to the local Thrift store. I also know how much these wind chimes are to buy before you spend too many hours painting them. So I'm sure Roy won't mind if I enjoy his labors at such a bargain price, $2. the girl at the cash even suggested I wait till 50%off day. Imagine Roy's heirlooms at half price. We often speak of this in our painting groups, that we toil and try to paint lovely things so someday our children or grandchildren will say "Oh my mom/gran painted this, she was an artist, but we fully expect they will be found at the local thrift shop at bargain prices and purchased by someone who knows the work involved. I don't sell my paintings for this same reason, how much would you charge?

So this is my contribution to Mellow Yellow Monday, (we'll call Roy's bird Kooboosh) Kooboosh has a little yellow on his head and he's lovely.

I'm going to Hat Tip Roy 1992. photo taken of the windchime I own.

Hail Hail the gangs all here, well almost...

A million years ago I decided to get back to painting. This is the great group of ladies that allowed me the honour of painting with them. We've gone on to scrap together and most recently do some serious card making. There was a lull for a few years there where we each in tern attended to pressing family matters, or travelled to outrageous parts of the world and didn't do the Wed/Thurs. painting, but we are almost all united again. Welcome back "Splatters".

It looks like we all did the same thing here, but the scene was Tuscany with an spray of poppies each one came out slightly different. Good times.

I'm the splatter second from the right in the poppy photo

We all then stayed and enjoyed our traditional egg salad sandwiches and did the card making session as well. Missing from our photo is Louise and Lynn who were away at appointments, and our Team Leader Leslie, she's doing Yoga. Now in the photos we have a few other ladies who were not part of the splatters but we let them stay. I'm kinda proud of where we've come to this year, no teacher, this was an independent adventure, now I say that after we all stood around Louise and watched her do the technique. But we had a very very limited sketch for Tuscany and just a quicky outline for the poppies and then baby we were on our own. Way to go splatters.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
