I'd like to wish everyone a great New Year. We did indeed going dancing on New Year's Eve. Although it was not the music we were expecting, we had a good time. The company was pleasant the food was excellent and we brushed up on our Polish grammar. (badly needed)I forgot my camera, and I can't figure out how to use the camera phone link to the computer so. Just imagine Us as in this video clip. LOL really. Of course I need a new hip, and heart and certainly new shoes.

Happy New Year
Well tonight is the night. As I'm preparing my body for a night of dancing and dining, I know I'll be so great looking that my husband will feel a song coming on. Perhaps this one
Have a Happy New Year. I plan on having a great one.

The Last Supper
For the past few years my husband, the retired police officer, and two other fellow police retirees have provided security for a very exclusive Golf Club. Well something happened and although the club was pleased with their work they were not allowed to continue in this job. They got CANNED! However, the club invited them back for a Christmas Dinner, which was tonight. We had a lovely dinner, with many of the staff coming over to give the guys personal gifts and special treatment. Of course the guys loved this. It was one of the first dinners we had gone to that my husband has not won the grand prize. It started to be a joke that "why bother putting your ticket in the drum, Andy's going to win anyway." My boys were looking forward to a new WII. The Club must be commended they sent these guys off quite nicely. I'm not sure the Police force did as well, with a heck of a lot more commitment. It just goes to show you there are jobs where employers still take care of their employees like their special. It certainly makes for good business. I'll miss him working there, since he got fed as well. That means I have to cook 3 more nights a week, and listen to grumbling about how he'd like something with more spice or no onions, or garlic. I'll be looking for another place for him soon. I liked my 3 nights a week of peanut butter and jam sandwiches. Oh well this too shall pass.

O.k I've got my dancing shoes on...
Well since my post a couple of days ago, I can't stop dancing. I'm earnestly pursuing someplace to dance on New Years Eve. New Years Eve use to be a "for sure" with my husband, sister and brother-in-law. We haven't done it for a few years for some reason or other. But this year might be different. So stay tuned. Or I might be dancing in Janice's kitchen again. We've done that more than once. I think Janice decorates with this in mind. Isn't she the best.

Just in case you have not finished Christmas Shopping...
Just in case you have not finished your Christmas Shopping, I thought I would pass on a little inspiration: not only is the One of a Kind still happening, some of our more local artist are having a great little show the Holly Jolly Show. And if that's not possible, remember to shop locally, the artist will appreciate it, and you'll have a great gift to share.

Just what the Dr. ordered

In my profile you'll see that I've been married to the same man for thirty years. I didn't tell you he's a "Polka Groupie" Yes Polka's. Not the kind you hear usually. They are hip and now or so I'm told. They are Chicago style or Pennsylvania Style or something of a combination of both. It's sort of a secret underworld in music. Awhile back we did a major reno in our home, seems that's all we do. So I packed things up, including all the Polkas and when "the room" was ready, told my husband he had to re-organize and fit into the space allotted. |"If a man's room is his castle, let him clean it." Well I could take the dust no longer, not to mention that I needed more room for car parts, and in my attempt to clear away more space for myself thought I would push the envelope a little. I made him file his notes from conferences. He damn near died. And then there were the CDs. He conveniently had to go to the washroom, and then he never came back. Got a phone call and off he went.(I actually think he phoned himself.) So I guess I had to finish. Well at least it was a good laugh. Being a student in secretarial and library studies, volunteer as those posts might have been, I need to alphabetize. So my son and I had quite a laugh. The photo insert is a favorite band. Creative name and all. We didn't listen to any of the tunes but I'm sure they are GREAT. So we not only fit into the CD cabinet we have extra room. And only tossing a few "don't belong to this cabinet" out. You must think "What state is this woman's home in? that she is still sorting out." Well let me tell you if we had a fire, we'd never get out. So I continue today. Keep warm and have a laugh. I'd have loved to link you in for a listen to Dr. Kielbasa, but I'm not that technically capable. You think I'm kidding? So I'll entertain you with some home grown talent from Hamilton. If you watch carefully you might see my husband dancing by... I do notice that Canadians hop a bit more the our U.S. friends. They sort of slide and relax. Check out the guy in the middle playing the trumpet (I think) having a great ole time, I may ask him to dance next time, forget his name.
Photo of album cover I own.

The first Sunday of Advent...
When my boys were little Advent was such an exciting time for them. I think it was the lighting of the candles that made it so. There is something warm and wonderful about eating by candlelight. Well now I'm HOME ALONE on the first Sunday of Advent, can't find my advent wreath. I turned my usual hiding spots upside down, and I'll be dining by electric light tonight. The challenge I always gave my boys was that they were to come up with an advent prayer each week, (new one) self composed. Wish I had kept them all. I did keep ones they tried to pass off as their own, ones they brought home from school. Daniel at one point really got into it (pyromaniac that he is) and we lite candles everyday. I will not rest tonight until I find my wreath. Take time to enjoy the little video below.

Oooo my aching body...
Having blitzed my garden clean-up yesterday, my body is aching. I had planned to clean the car parts today, but my hands and butt will not permit. So when all else fails, go shopping. I thought I might get started on Christmas shopping. Well I'm so glad I'm not Santa. I'd do o.k. if all the kids were little. But it's those big ones. Well my big one will probably get gift certificates for Sobeys or Fido, but the little one ?????????. My husband?????I'm thinking a long trip, oh there you go I've just got myself something too. I'll have to compose a wish list. I'll be putting an Anvil on that, and a butane torch, maybe a fire extinguisher. Well happy shopping.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I try to be thankful for everything, everyday, but somehow some negative little worm crawls into my life to just mess things up. I am so thankful to all my readers that send positive, funny comments or even comments at all. I'm thankful for the powers that be, for guiding me down the path to feeling better. I can't believe that the smallest gesture, or phone call just happens. As you can tell I don't believe in coincidence. On Thursday evening when I arrived home from my mother's home, Sasha said I had a call and that a product I had ordered had arrived and I should pick it up. Of course being of unsound mind, I could not recall ordering anything. I thought o.k. yesterday was a nice day for a road trip I'll just go and see what it is I ordered, and lo and behold a lovely lady made my day. I'm thankful for Katie.(Princess Katie that is). I not only got a my order which I had obviously forgotten about, but found a home for my mothers cat. I love Katie, I would let her have my children, that's how much I trust her so to know that my mother's cat will be well loved and looked after is such a relief. When my boy's were little we use to always do some Thanksgiving craft with our hands, like the one in the photo, I would like to put my hands together now and say thank you indeed. While I'm still having a negative feelings, the good stuff keeps coming to the top, thank you to those of you who care enough to help me feel that way. Enjoy your turkey and pies.

Birthday Beauty
Some 32 years ago this lovely lady came into my life. It was for sure my first love. I know it must sound weird, but there is a presence around baby's that makes us different people. This baby sure did. I had the pleasure of looking after her sometime and watch her grow up to be the beauty and brilliant young lady she is today. I'm thinking of a song...

Happy Birthday

This cutie is my niece Jennifer, Lee. Jennifer has a birthday today. I remember when Jennifer was born and my parents were discussing her name. It's not exactly Polish, and they were trying hard to make it that. They made it work. Jennifer was the first grandchild for my parents. She was a active child, a figure skater, and a brownie. She is now a very creative writer, and independent career woman. She loves animals and gives them all a good home. Hope you're having a wonderful Birthday and have a great year as well.

Well August to date has been another month of celebrations. On August 9th and 11th we celebrated the 25th birthdays of Joanne, and Christopher Makarewicz. On the 13th Our Dave turned 19. And Today is the 5th anniversary of Michelle and Mike. When we think back to the wedding days, well. We dealt with the blackout on Thurs. the night of rehearsal, still no lights on Fri. when we tried to get things going at the hall for the reception, but fortunately on Sat. we only had a down pour for a few minutes. We managed to get hair done with generators, dinner by candle light if necessary and everything went great. Janice was right, she dealt with unforseen things on her wedding day now her life will be perfect and it pretty much is. Happy Anniversary you two.Sunday, June 29, 2008
And they lived happily ever after...
Well I did warn you that June was a month filled with celebrations. So I'll bet you're expecting yet another Happy column. Gotchja that's the end of our fun times for at least a week. Today is Jane and Michaels first anniversary. Jane is the daughter of my friend Leslie and her husband Larry. I remember only too well the preparations and the wonderful ideas Leslie had for the wedding. She is so creative. Everything down to flowers chosen had special meaning. She had a outstanding floral designer, who made a wicked Mojito. Her guest book design should be in some "Somerset issue. " I was so jealous that I didn't have a daughter. Just so I could plan things like this. I'll be the evil "MOTHER-IN-LAW" someday. Even the native blockade did not impede this special occasion. My friend Janice says the more things go wrong for your wedding day the better your life together will be. She was trying to cheer me up, when my niece was getting married and we had the blackout. Well the couples got married the day was magical and they are living happily ever after.
