Saturday snapshot... at a snails pace

disjointed, needs to be re- pegged and re glued
before "hammer time"

There is something very cathartic about hammering a chair/bench apart, or any piece of furniture for that matter. I feel like I  might be back in the saddle again.  I was over at Catherine Holman's blog (wonderful artist) and Catherine is off to a good start with her revamping of a chair and table.  Somehow for me it becomes a lifetime achievement.  This was the second day I was beating this bench apart, I did strip it, since it had Sears Weatherbeater on it.  It's almost done, I waited for an eternity for my husband to take me to the lumberyard, since carrying a 2 X4 piece is a little difficult and the bus passengers don't appreciate it either, but it will soon be posted in it's entirety.  I've even thinking of giving it some "flair".

but it all happens at a snails pace

Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce over at At Home with Books

It happens at a snails pace for me too Irene. I've had these two pieces of furniture waiting to be refinished for longer than i care to admit.

That is fun. I used to help my mom refinish old furniture. I have done a couple pieces on my own.

That looks like it will be a lovely bench when it's finished.

I remember stripping a chair once. Very very messy but the feeling of rejuvenating something is very rejuvenating. Looking forward to see the completed project...even if it takes awhile.

Anything like that takes time. Hope to see the finished chair soon. My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/GVIbC

A snail's pace. That's a good one. Like projects at our house sometimes. My office is under construction. Told hubby it cannot be forever. Best wishes with your chair.

A snail's pace is just fine! It's not a race! Have fun with your project.

Wow. I had no idea you hammered furniture apart!!
This is interesting.
I haven't been reading blogs for awhile because of family issues, year end audits, swap deadlines, blah blah, so if I make a lot of comments, just chalk it up to...

being lame?

Love the snail! How very satisfying to complete the project even if it did take a while.

Oh dear Irene, I love it when you use the word "flair." Now if I took to beating a piece of furniture, there wouldn't be anything to save. And how intuitive of you to know your fellow bus passengers might look askance at a two by four in their midst. But if anyone could pull it off with grace and aplomb, I bet you could. "It take-a panache!"

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
