Here comes the bride...

This week my husband's brother, and his new wife came to visit. They live in a far off province. They married on one of those cruise ship weddings, very romantic, and very intimate. My sisters in law and I thought it would be nice to have a little special thingy happening at our dinner the night before they left to go home again. I baked a wedding cake. Haven't done one in a long time. My sisters in law and I are well insinc, when we do dinner for Christmas, each of us has our specialities. Chris does the turkey, Teresa is responsible for fruits and vegetables and salad, and of course fat me get the dessert. I really use them as guinea pigs you know. Anyway here is my adventure in cake decorating.

In the middle of running back and forth to the fridge to keep things cool, my cat decided I was not paying him enough attention. I swear he's trying to trip me,
the biggest challenge in these bakeoffs is refrigeration. It's been so hot, that even with the AC going, by the time you are baking and icing things, refrigerator space is at a premium.

Best Wishes to the Bride and Groom...

P.S. There is nothing that doesn't look better with a little baby's breath and roses, even chocolate.

For Today...

For Today
Outside my window... it's sunny and warm, and my garden is 2/3 weedless yea!
I am thinking...If God gives me one more not too hot day, I'll finish it up
I am thankful for...the strength to do it.
From the learning rooms.. I'm learning to be quiet, once you've said it sometimes it's too late, and sorry isn't enough, especially if you're not sorry.
From the kitchen...French Toast
I am wearing...black capris with a green t shirt
I am creating...not so much creating as finishing some creations
I am going...outside to pull weeds
I am reading...still reading Last Great Dance on Earth, Sandra Gulland
I am hoping...to finish it by tomorrow
I am hearing...birds chirping, we have an unusual bird in the neighbourhood, it's song is really different, haven't seen it yet. It's set up roost in the Magnolia.
Around the house...continuing the sorting through of stuff
One of my favourite things...a newly turned over flowerbed, all that fresh dirt...
A few plans for the rest of the week:nothing out of the ordinary, hopefully I'll get my rose garden looking presentable.
Here is picture I am sharing...
A few months ago on Brenda's Photo Challenge the subject was "the eyes have it" I had nothing. Well I've been playing around with some scratch paper and if the subject ever comes up again... Scratching paper is very cathartic. This meme is hosted by The Simple Woman's Day Book.

Just and FYI, I received a call from the customer service department of the transit system. Interesting, they want me to sign something.

Brenda's Photo Challenge- Pets

O.k you all it's Brenda's Photo Challenge Time, this weeks subject is pets.

Lucky is the absolute correct name for this large feline. Lucky was my mother's cat. She wondered over to my mother's home when she was expecting a litter. It was darn cold out, so needless to say my mother fed and gave her shelter in the old dog house. After the babies were born, my sister Barb (aka mother nature) took them to a pet shop and lied through her teeth to get them adopted. But, Lucky stayed. She was then spayed and became my mother's companion for at least seven years. She got very fat.

When my mother had to go into a long term care facility, we had no idea what we were going to do about Lucky. Even though I love cats I knew my cat would be not very accepting. Then wonderful Katie came along and adopted Lucky. These are photo's Katie took of Lucky now known as Ducky. She is well cared for and loved.

So that's the story of Lucky/Ducky with an awful lot of luck.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
