Saturday Snapshot... blooms continued

It was a dark and stormy night... don't you just love it when a book starts like that. I do. Well last evening, at the end of March, it was a dark and stormy night, as I crossed the parking lot, to get to my bus stop I could hardly see my feet moving in front of me. We've had a blast of winter! All I could think of was my beautiful tulips all up and ready to open to please their mistress gardener. I'm happy to report, once I crossed the border of our neighboring town, the winter seemed to disappear, and my tulips stand tall and still ready to open, no wilting,no freezing just beauty. I'm still in my p.j.s so I'm not going out to take a picture, (my new neighbor is not use to seeing me in this state, I have so much training to do with this one).

Alyce at At Home with Books is our hostess for Saturday Snapshot.

I thought I'd show you a few more shots of the Canada Blooms exhibit. I particularly love the hand bags, covered in "real" leaves and blooms, wouldn't this be a great wedding arrangement, say for the mother of the groom. I wish I had taken notes on who did these creations, my friend is going to be the mother of the groom in July. Yes, the 2nd and 3rd photos are indeed hats.  The first of the two is a pumpkin top that had been dried and used, really WOW (was the coment by the judges).  I thought I'd freak out my boys and wear something similar for my role as mother of the groom.  I understand they are planning a secret service.  Drat!

Mellow Yellow Monday... Canada Blooms

A great green/yellow living carpet design at Canada Blooms.  I've longed to do this in my back yard Not sure how much maintenance this would entail, but it would have to be something you could walk on. Maybe I'll start small with just a border and work my way into it.  Well if we have some cold days this week I may be doing a design or two, now to dig up all that sod. Wonder how much that would cost?  I think this would great as a aisle for an outdoor wedding, would make a great picture.

Mellow Yellow Monday is a weekly meme, because life is better with a splash of yellow.

Saturday Snapshot...

Since this is a bookish blog, I thought I needed to share this unique garden element with you all.  I spent the afternoon at the Canada Blooms show.  Yes you are seeing correctly, this retaining wall is stuffed in random spots with books.  I love it.  I'm not sure if our Canadian weather would be o.k. for this creation, but it certainly is cool.

While the show on the whole was a disappointment, too crowded and quite expensive.  I went for the floral arrangement competition which was the highlight for me. I studied Ikebana, Ohara School, so I'm always anxious to see how well they do.  3rd place. Not the picture shown, I didn't manage to sneak a picture of the winner. Rules!  My sole purpose for going was to get some interesting daylillies,  mission accomplished, no other bulbs, no Holland tulips , just lilies and lilies and more lilies, thought I would not even find my daylillies until I was huffing and puffing out the door and viola there he was, my man with the daylillies.  Apparently tomorrow will be warm enough to plant them.

Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce at At Home With Books.

P.S. I've just had an evil though, maybe the books in the retaining wall were added because one of the crew didn't order enough bricks, so he/she looked around and found some books to "fix" things.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
