Saturday Snapshot...

I love the growth on the crook of this tree, even though I couldn't figure out how to blurr out my background I took the shot.  If I were to paint this tree, the viewer would wonder what the heck that was.  I wonder what makes a mushroom grow in such a spot.

How cool! One of our photo challenge participants showed photos of burls and tree fungus too. I suppose that the growing conditions are just right for it.

You can use a shallow depth of field to blur the background. Aperture priority mode, and set the f-stop at 5.6 or a smaller number. Focus on the tree.

That's a great tree Irene!! I love taking photos of trees and mushrooms, and this photo has both!!

I also follow what Donna said for a blurred background. A lot of it depends on the camera and lens that you have.

At first glance I thought maybe these were squirrels cuddled together on the crook of the tree!

Ha, that's funny, dear Irene. I love to study the intricacies of the way trees have grown, and what has grown alongside or intertwined with or beside or on them. Funny that this growth saw an opportunity and took it. That's a nice tree. xoxo

Unfortunately it might mean the tree is sick. what happened to a tree in my backyard. Had to be cut down. But they are interesting though!
