Sunday Salon...

Sunday Salon finds me recuperating from a book fair/Christmas market place.  I decided to continue volunteering in the library at the Nursing Home where my mom lived.  We had gotten a large amount of books that I felt were not suitable to the residents there, so I put them out for sale.  It was a good buy kind of thing.  We did o.k. with them.  To my surprise there were very few volunteers, like only "me".  Sad!  Anyway, the sale went well and I have only a few books to send off to the goodwill. I've been writing Christmas Cards, and those have been completed as well.  I then spent the evening with my sister and brother in law, and attended a memorial service for all those who had passed away in this past year, my Mom was one of those.  The service was very well organized and thoughtful, but you can imagine how drained I am today.

So quite probably I will feel accomplished if the dishes are done and supper is made.  Beyond that, things look bleak.

I've been reading a book by a Canadian Author and I'm giving up, it just too boring.  I want to scream, "get on with the story".  I am about to return it, but feel unpatriotic and will continue.  I won't mention the author at this point, I'll give it one more chance and then I'll let you all know how it goes.  Let's put it this way she's no Lynwood Barcley.

Have a good week.  I shall try.

sorry you had no one else to help you sell those books. volunteers are hard to tie down this time of year.

Those first holidays without a loved one are always tough. Kudos to you for keeping up the good work at the nursing home.

Lovely to have a special service at this time of the year, Irene. But yes, this time of the year is draining anyway.

Lovely to read of your sister's Joy Day, above..what fun! Some of my grandchildren came to visit on the weekend and decorated my tree for me. Wonderful.
