Saturday Snapshot...

A wee bit windy, but sunny and not raining, well that was yesterday.  Today gloomy and wet.  The presentation of the first poppies at the Royal Canadian Legion on Friday kicked off the start of the 2013 poppy campaign.
My husband, not sure what he's a veteran of but... wearing his poppy and a few medals, and his Signals Tie, with Jimmy on it.  Apparently Jimmy is the messenger.  Whenever the unit does their toast to the Princess Royal and Jimmy I can't help thinking of Kramer, from the Seinfeld series and keeping from laughing out loud takes my all...
I'm so BAD! but I can't help it.

I haven't seen any poppies around here, yet. Like how it looks on a jacket!

My "Jimmy" (aka Mr. Jim) wore a poppy last year when we were up in Winnipeg, before flying in to Churchill. It's hard to believe that were were up visiting with the polar bears this time last year. I enjoyed seeing the old Seinfeld recording!

I always enjoy seeing the Canadian flag. Here in the US they do not do poppies. I remember them as a child from school. Growing up in Ottawa my dad always took us to the services downtown.

I don't think I've seen that Jimmy episode before. Fun.

The American Legion distributes poppies on Memorial Day and Veterans Day. I haven't seen any yet - I think they wait until Nov 11th to pass them out.

I think I would be reminded of that episode too. My husband is an Army veteran and served in Vietnam. Please thank your husband for his service. We need to take good care of our veterans, even if we poke fun at them sometimes. Have a great day, Irene!
