A-Z survey, a bookish survey

Just when I think my summer has been "consumed" by flooding, and I have nothing exciting to blog about, of a personal nature/or book nature, I hoped on over to Love, Laughter and a Touch of Insanity to check on the new baby and found this fun survey.  It originated at Jamie of perpetual page turner.
Author you’ve read the most books from: Agatha Christie, Maeve Binchy, Phillipa Gregory.

Best Sequel Ever: this is a difficult one for me, I'm not usually a Sequel reader, but I do love King Arthur, and Camelot stories, so probably the closest to a sequel would have to be Persia Woolley's series Child of the Northern Spring, Queen of the Summer Stars, Guinevere: The Legend of Autumn. or the Josephine B Trilogy,Sandra Gulland.

Currently Reading: This Cake is for the Party,
by Sarah Selecky

Drink of Choice While Reading: In theory wine, in reality water.

E-reader or Physical Book? I love the idea of an e reader, and gifted myself one, BUT, I still have the urge to pick up a printed book, and usually do.  If I plan to read in the dark, it's an e reader I go to, but it's a difficult and last resort choice.  I think I'm just too old to learn new tricks, but I'll keep trying.

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School: I'd like to say Mr. Darcy, but heck I'm not that old.  So I'll say James Bond.  Did James date. (can`t seem to get a question mark here)

Glad You Gave This Book A Chance: The Care of Wooden Floors.  I found this book a little bit harder to get into, but once I was in and the end found it to be a very good read.

Hidden Gem Book: The End of the Alphabet by CS Richardson. It's a short little book but packs quite a punch. This was a book recommended by Trish and I too loved it.

Important Moment in your Reading Life: When I read To Kill a Mockingbird in highschool, I knew I`d always read for pleasure and purpose. But probably even earlier, some of the poetry I read in my elementary years ``got me``thank heaven to Mrs. Paradisi who really focussed on a good read.  Our school library was so small at the time that I`d read every book in it, and while my parents encourage learning we just didn`t ``buy books``, as soon as I had my own money I bought books and still do.

Just Finished: Chains, and I suspect I`ll be reading the sequel.

Kinds of Books You Won’t Read: I``m not a big fan of sweetie romance, or time travel, distopia.

Longest Book You’ve Read: Musashi is the longest book I`ve ever read, one of the best.

Major book hangover because of: The Stand, Stevie King, everytime someone coughs...

Number of Bookcases You Own: Since I have books everywhere in my home, I`m going to say an even dozen, plus the spindles on the staircase. I even have them doubled on the shelves.  Can you imagine my kids clearing all this out when I go into a nursing home.

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times: Any or all of the Agatha Christie books, they are just a comfort read, like maybe a slice of chocolate cake when you`re on a diet.

Preferred Place To Read: I read anywhere, but in my sunny living room, with my feet up and a hot cup of tea.

Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read: From To Kill a Mockingbird, "'remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird ... don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us

Reading Regret: That I`m having such a difficult time learning to listen to books.

Series You Started And Need To Finish the Hunger Games.

Three of your All-Time Favorite Books: To Kill a Mockingbird, The Book Thief, and You are My Only.

Unapologetic Fangirl For: All Maeve Binchy books.

Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others: I think probably the only book release I was waiting for were the Harry Potter books.

Worst Bookish Habit: I am a book buyer, and I need to switch from printed works (due to book case space) and buy e books.

X Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book, well for me that would be `Complete Upholstery Guide.

Your latest book purchase: I`ve got new self imposed rules, I only buy books ``I need `to keep. So I loved Code Name Verity, so I purchased the companion book, Rose Under Fire, and my Agatha Christie addiction made me buy Come Tell Me How You Live, and Agatha Christie at Home.

ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):  This would have to be God`s of Alabama, Jacklyn Joshlin, or maybe it was Sugar Queen, or Lace Reader, (I don`t sleep much)

Hello Irene,

I came by to check some cards but finally you're not doing them anymore ?

By the way, I copy your Survey and will be doing it in the future but as a video.

I see that you're also a book lover. I also read a lot of Agatha Christie, actually I think I read them all, except the last one, couldn't read about Poirot's death.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Take care

Grace

My family didn't buy books either, but the public library did have a decent collection of books. I have to say that I'm a bit jealous of the teen section that the library has now. When I was a kid you read through Madeleine L'Engle and Judy Blume books and went straight to the adult section, and at that point it was classics vs. popular fiction like John Grisham. I ended up diving into sci-fi at some point because it was the best fit for me.

I remember the Christmas I was 11, all I asked for was books and the only person who took me seriously and got me a book was my sister's boyfriend's mother - she bought me a fancy hardbound copy of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, which I treasure to this day.

Anyway, my relatives still won't buy me books as gifts, although at this point I think it's more because they don't know what I haven't already read.

I'll have to read The End of the Alphabet sometime since both you and Trish loved it.

I love libraries but I also love to own books. There is something so exciting about owning a book. You're a doodle, dear Irene.
