I have to say that I'm a bit jealous of the teen section that the library has now. When I was a kid you read through Madeleine L'Engle and Judy Blume books and went straight to the adult section, and at that point it was classics vs. popular fiction like John Grisham. I ended up diving into sci-fi at some point because it was the best fit for me.

I remember the Christmas I was 11, all I asked for was books and the only person who took me seriously and got me a book was my sister's boyfriend's mother - she bought me a fancy hardbound copy of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, which I treasure to this day.

Anyway, my relatives still won't buy me books as gifts, although at this point I think it's more because they don't know what I haven't already read. I also read a lot of Agatha Christie, actually I think I read them all, except the last one, couldn't read about Poirot's death.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Take care

GraceGrace Bailhachehttp://blog.gracebailhache.com/2013/08/would-you-send-me-a-postcard/noreply@blogger.com
