Favorites on the First... Favorite Lamp

So I'm blog hopping this a.m. in my p.js and hot cuppa and The Other me is Sane has this neat post about Favorites on the First. Thought I'd join the party. I have a thing for black, and I another thing for butterflies. So many, many years ago when I saw this lamp at a craft fair, I needed it.  My husband was not so happy, the $ was a little more than he wanted to pay, not to mention that he preferred to watch TV in the dark.  I've always been happy that I didn't lose that disagreement.  It's still one of my favorite lamps, even after all these years.  I've changed the shade a couple of times, and of late I've wanted to disassemble it so I can properly clean the glass, I'm a little nervous about that, since I may need some "electrical" assistance from handy Andy, and he's just such a calamity.  Lately I've wanted to do a lampshade class.  My upholstery instructor is big on lampshades as well, and she just amazes me with her enthusiasm.  Yes I could probably go and buy a lampshade, but ... I've never been very good at that, I just need to add some blood (from pricking my finger) sweat, (from the too hot studio), and tears, (handy Andy had dirty hands when assemblage happened) to everything. Silly wife, what could I be thinking.  So if you have a favorite lamp hop on over to  Polohouse, Favorites on the First.

Lamps are wonderful, aren't they, dear Irene? Yours is all the more beautiful for being so special to you. TG likes overhead lighting (?????) but I am all about lamplight. I dislike glare. Happy Monday to you.

love your lamp, and your story. It's a lot more fun to read about "things" when we get a little background about them.

After reading your story about cleaning yours, it makes me think I should've cleaned the dust off my lamp before taking pictures of it!

Love this cute little story! We don't have lamps in our TV room--well I guess except for the floor lamp behind the lazyboy recliner. I typically don't read when the TV is on but last night I grabbed my book light and did the best I could while Scott had the lights off.

Hope you had a wonderful Easter Irene!
