Postcard Friendship Friday...

Once again my cousin didn't disappoint.  I received this cute little postcard from her the other day. The little ruffle around the daffy's is gold inked.  Not very ornate eggs this year, you can tell the old masters have arthritis and are unable to create.  My mother was an old master.  She decorated eggs for as long as I can remember.  Wonder she didn't burn down the house.  She had this self created tool, which was a sewing pin stuck into the end of a pencil eraser.  High Tech NO! and then she'd have the parafin wax on a tin lid, on the burner.  SMOKEY!!!!! When fire detectors became the law it was also LOUD.   When I went off to college I found her the proper utensils, but she never used them.  When we cleared her home I found them all still in the paper bag I brought them in.  I'll be bring them out later today for my family and I to paint. I love the smell of bees wax, it's so relaxing.  Even handy Andy joins in.

This is my post for Postcard Friendship Friday... hosted by Beth at The Best Hearts are Crunchy. Beth and the gang have a tremendous selection of vintage and new postcards, and stories to go along with them.  Enjoy a visit.

That's such a beautiful card.

I've never decorated eggs, except when I was at school - very badly painted!!

I hope you take some photos of yours.

I haven't decorated eggs since my son was small and have never decorated them the way your mother did. Happy Easter!

I suspect no one in the world decorated them like my mother. I once took a coarse, thinking I'd get really good, and then our teacher got old and didn't want to do it anymore. What a shame.

I love the card and especially the story of how your mother decorated eggs. It's not something we ever did in my family.

Lovely story about your mom decorating eggs. Ours were never fancy - just the dye bath - but still fun. When my kids were little, we would hide eggs after they went to bed. Always one was "hidden" in the bath tub. My daughter did that for her girls, too. Have a lovely Easter.

Such a lovely card. I have tried various types of eggs. My fav was wrapping the eggs in onion skins and then boiling. As for Ukrainian style, I love them. My grandmother had a large collection and my mom and sister have a few. I'd like to translate the image into a quilt method. The intense colours but the classic designs. Thanks for sharing.

Spring came so early this year that my daffodils have passed by and the tulips are gone too. Plenty of flowering trees however.
