Saturday Snapshot...a grocery store arrangement

It's taken me a full month to tell you this story.  My husband and I have been married for more than 32 years, we've known each other for 45years one would think that he would know what I like.  Not So! it seems.  Last month Nov. 2 was my birthday, and as I mentioned, I want to see my boys on their birthday, so I foolishly thought my mom would like the same, so off I went to spend the day with the person with whom I shared my birthday.  My husband and son were asleep when I left, so no greetings, or wishes were bestowed upon their loving mother/wife.  I returned quite late in the day, so there was no grand meals or cake or anything (after all I didn't make it). I did however think they might have left me a slice of the frozen pizza they probably had for supper, not likely.  So by midnight when I still hadn't recieved my "new car" or .any such luxury, I flipped out. I went to bed angry and pi___ off and I hope they had as rotten a sleep as I did.  The next day, I was off again in the early hours and did not see them until it was time for me to make supper.  There on the table I found this grocery store bunch of flowers and a bottle of wine, no card, the flowers were in an empty peanut butter jar.  I was still very angry.  The flowers were hideous, garden mums, and some other smelly carnations or something.  My husband was off on a trip of some sort the next day, and I presumed he'd have no clean underwear if he didn't measure up.  I don't know what he wore on his a_s, I didn't do the laundry (Thursday is laundry day). When he got back the flowers were still wrapped up and in the peanut butter jar.  I just couldn't let go... Then I read Valore Harts post about Thanksgiving center pieces. Oh Valore you made me do it.  I've never been one to shy away from a challenge, so after a great big lecture to my sons on flowers they should never buy their mate, and a great big lecture to my husband on how he was going to lose a vital body part, and perhaps wear it as earings, if I ever, ever again got grocery store garden mum arrangement, I took on the challenge and did this flower arrangement.  YUK! is all I could say.  I would have never chosen it, but here it was.  The most that happened is the cat got rid of his hairballs, since he ate great portions of it and threw up. So there you go,  all I had to show for my turning yet another year older was the mess I needed to keep cleaning up. Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce at At Home With Books.

P.S. I had to add this as well, I was so upset at this whole thing that when I read the review at Life... with books.  re: the book called Look After Mother, I thought I must read this, ... P.P.S. that home depot car is a pez dispenser, cool eh!

I've been married for 32 years as well and my birthday was kind of a bomb this year as well. At least the cat enjoyed the flowers.

Oh Irene I don't know what to say?! I certainly hope they wise up for next year.
My anniversary and birthday are on the same day, so my hubby is pretty good about doing special things for me. It's usually me that's not so nice to him on our anniversary, because it's all about me, you know ;)
Plus at least a week ahead of time, I start touting my birthday, like he doesn't know.

Oh, it is a sad state of affairs when we realize that others think of us only in terms of what we can do for them.

Hope things look up after the lesson you taught them.

Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.

Sorry that your birthday was a disappointment. I've been married for 21 years, three kids, and I learned to make my birthday special for myself. Anything else is just a bonus. Here's My Saturday Snapshot

Irene...you had me in stitches, so much so I had to read this to my husband....who would eat toast if I was not there to cook! I totally understand, but he quite generous when it comes to my birthday (this month)...LOL

I loved the photos and was happy the cat liked the flowers.

Some days are just not great, and I'm sorry your birthday ended up that way. Hopefully it will be a story to bring much laughter after time. :)

Your story made me laugh..men are so silly aren't they? I hope that he wises up and doesn't lose an appendage for next year. Maybe you need to leave written clues as to what you would like next birthday.

So sorry your husband and sons were such "men" this year for your birthday. My birthday was on Thanksgiving this year as it is every few years, but I still got flowers, cards and gifts. Shame on them!
