Postcard Friendship Friday...

Postcard Friendship Friday is hosted by Beth at the Best Hearts are Crunchy.  I haven't posted in this meme for quite awhile, even though I do check out the other posts.  Nancy of course keeps me in vintage postcards, Love you gal.! But today's postcard is one of an advertisement nature, why would I do that you ask?  Well my son is an avid listener to The Best Show on WFMU, and I on the other hand watch Antiques Road show.  The other day he was listening and I was watching, and one of the "Twins" was talking about an old record player, you know with the crank and all and how difficult it is to find records.  Well I had to tell the story of my sister, who was suppose to be babysitting us while my parents were out, (she really doesn't like old things) came across a stack of old 78 records that my mother had purchase along with this old crank record player, Donna decided to make bowls.  She put them in the oven and heated them up (fire hazard and toxic I'm sure) and then shaped them.  The "Twins" would be aghast at that, they have a hissy fit if someone refinished a piece of old furniture, I can see them having a fainting spell if I ever told them the "melted record story".  Anyway, I digress, on Thursday, my son got this postcard.  I thought hmmmmmm Donna could really make a few bowls after visiting here.

thanks Nancy
And now for a really cool postcard... we're off to a dinner dance tomorrow night, it won't be my husband on my feet, it'll be me, and he'll complain that I lead, oh well after 32+ years of dancing together you'd think he'd realize who's in charge.

Hope you enjoy the dance. I am sure you will!
I was horrified by the record story Irene. You didn't say what your parents thought of your sister's antics?

Oh my goodness, what a creative gal, but did she get in trouble? I always try to lead as well.

No my sister didn't get in trouble, there were a few records left, but not the song titles my mom liked. My sister was the golden child. they actually thought she was quite creative.

Have a wonderful time!
Can't believe anybody would destroy anything old which can reveal our past that way!
Wish I'd been there to try and talk her out of it!
Enjoy your weekend!

It's often not until years later that the value of things becomes obvious. Shame about the records, though.

Thanks for your visit to my PFF entry. Yes, that is a real postcard. It arrived about a week ago.

Happy PFF!

Hello Irene,

Saw you were on the blog hop and thought I would stop by, you have the same name than someone I loved very much but who is not there anymore. But I also love this song "Irene goodnight" maybe you know it ?

This is such a story, I love the way cards give back memories. This card is IRRESISTIBLE the couple are so...don't even find the world. By the way, I take tango lessons and the fact is that my weakness is the lead too. But I'm working on it...

Happy PFF and hope to read from you someday

Grace
Anyway hopefully your sister didn't have trouble. I used to make her laugh with a old song when she was sad! I can't wait to see all your Recipes of the week! I love cooking! Come visit me at:

Oops Irene isn't possible to edit a comment, could you please delete the phrases after my signature, they have nothing to do with this subject.

Thanks

Funny story about the records, but I wouldn't have been as forgiving as your mom! Golden child?...All kids are created equal!

Buonasera IrenE,
Myriam
