Songs from the heart?

Jenners over at Life...with books asks this question.  Do you have songs that instantly transport you to another place and time when you hear them? Here are some of mine.

Ain't No Mountain High Enough, by Diana Ross or any other song by Diana Ross brings me back to my mother's living room, my sisters and I had just finished watching Imitation of Life, Lana Turner, and we were weeping uncontrollable and John Bodigan grabbed a broom and did Diana Ross perfectly.  (John was my sister Alice's love interest at the time, he was the "in" crowd from Grimsby On.) He's probably fat and bald now.

Take a Letter Maria, R.B Greaves takes me back to highschool dances.  We had a band playing and the lead singer, looked like David Cassidy, sang this song.  Needless to say we all were madly in love with him.  I can see him in his bellbottom pants, and printed shirt, opened to the waist, belting this tune out.  I could've been a groopy if ...

And I will always Love You, Whitney Houston , this is the song my son DANiel thinks should be my husband and my song.  After watching a Seinfeld episode where Elaine tries to get her boyfriend to share Desperado with her, a discussion ensued, and the boys wanted to know what our song was, and it couldn't be a polka.  Since we couldn't agree this was the one chosen.  I personally thought it should be Lady in Red, Chris Deburgh, or The Reason, by Hoobastank.

Steal All My Kisses From You, Ben Harper, takes me to the front seat of my husbands car, the boys in the back complaining that their dad only wants to listen to polkas, so when he changed the station, this was the song.  They were very young probably 10 and 8yrs. old.
I'm sure there are more songs that transport me, but we'll leave it at these few.

What songs transport you back in time?

I will have to put my thinking cap on!
Yours are interesting, Irene. It is always fun to step back in time, isn't it?

As long as it's not a polka ... that line cracked me up.

I could hear all those songs in my head except the last one. There are so many songs that take me back, I wouldn't know where to begin. Music is fascinating.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
