Musing Mondays

Rebeca at Just One More Page is the hostess for Musing Mondays. Today's post is about picture books. Do you have a favourite picture book, either from your own childhood, or reading to you children.

I couldn't possibly list all the favorites my boys had, but I'll just pick the first ones that pop into my head. Daniel now 24 loved Ezra Jack Keats, Whistle for Willy, he loved this book so much that when he spotted a bed, like in the book we had to stop and buy it.(garage sale find) I spent the night on it last night, just because I needed to smell Daniel as he is now away at school. Other two favorites I can include are Wolf Island, and The Salamander Room.

Sasha on the other hand needed more laughs when I read to him, Clifford the Big Red Dog was a hit and all his adventures, Franklin the Turtle, Hurry Up Franklin, Franklin Afraid of the Dark just to name a few.

I think the only book I remember from my childhood, was Heidi. My sister Donna borrowed it from the Mobile Library, (she was the only one with a card) and we read it quietly under the blankets with a flash light, while my mother was on the phone with her friend Teresa when their husbands had gone off to night shift.

Such wonderful memories.

My kids loved Clifford too.

I forgot about the Franklin books! I find it so encouraging that even in homes where our generation was maybe not read to much, we became readers ourselves who then read to our children!

Clifford! Not when I was young but I thought he was a good idea for kids.

My David loved "Chester the Worldly Pig" by Bill Peet (I think). It gives a whole new meaning to animal markings ...and I loved it too.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
