Theme Thursday, Rhythm

Theme Thursday this week is Rhythm. For me the beginning of the new school year also means the return of rhythm to my life. While I love having the freedom of summer, of late it has been a tossed salad of schedules and events to fit into my day and still have a glimpse of "family time". My kids are men, my husbands is a retiree with too many part time jobs and I'm a tired co-ordinator. I'm tired of keeping count of 3 different schedules, 3 different meal choices, and 3 different uniforms to wash. So when we return to school where I can write down everyone's (except the retiree) down on my fridge schedule it gives me some sense of organized life. What am I saying, the more organized I think I am the more things get scrambled. Oh I so long for the days of,off to elementary school, and be gone the days of juggling menus for the multi diet preferences of my household. Oh well life goes on, and I suppose I shouldn't sweat the small stuff...Ok. now what to cook?

At lunch today we were steps away from a scottish bakery, so I bought sausage rolls for dinner. Yum! How 'bout sausages for dinner? Or pasta ..... you can't go wrong with pasta! BTW, Giada's "lemon spaghetti" is another one I love too :-)

The pasta kid is not home for supper today, it's the chicken and potato kid. I'm so sick of making chicken breast and mashed potato, but that's all this kid eats.

hehe I remember when my daughter was still at home going through that. Now DH works second shift and I work first so we don't even have dinner together and I'm stumped as to what to make for myself. Thankful for the Polish Deli in town..good food, good price.

Sounds a bit like me with the "organised chaos"; but even that can have a rhythm( of a sort )...we often find ourselves trying to do too much at once( guilty )and just can't seem to get back into the groove, as it were. Hectic rhythm...

I love having everything scheduled, too. Makes it at least seem orderly. ;)

Well frankly I cook one meal, if you don't like it tough toenails. Wanna chef? Buy a restaurant!

I'm with the one meal, too. If they won't eat it, they're capable of making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

My mother only cooked one meal at a time; if I didn't like what she cooked (and when that was liver, I definitely didn't!) I was free to make a tuna sandwich. When my kids were small, I followed in my mother's footsteps. Both my kids grew up to be good cooks, so I guess my mother had a good idea.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
