Sunday Salon... Trust Your Eyes

I just finished reading Trust Your Eyes, Linwood Barclay.  It's a thriller. Reminded me of a CSI episode, only not as gory. (and without Grisham) I'm seriously thinking I might not vote ever again after it though.  Not my usual genre, but I'm sure I read a review and thought I should spread my wings. (if it was your review, please remind me). But definitely  a page turner, and a waiting for the next train, as well as a chunckster.  I loved the developing relationship between the brothers, I can only hope, my sons would be so devoted.  Way creepy subject matter though.  Love Bill Clinton's cameo appearance, almost like SNL.  I wasn't totally creeped out, but certainly thrilled.
It's been a funny week, on Sunday and Monday I spent the days with my friend of 40plus years.  We celebrated her birthday with a show at the casino, and lunch, an a whole lot of gabbing. Tuesday was a productive upholstery day, Wednesday not so much.  And then the weekend hit, with major snow, so I did one of those exciting jobs, laundry.  Up next on the reading front is The Fatherland, Robert Harris. In this upcoming week, we'll be enjoying some pancakes on Tues, and Wednesday there will be a memorial celebration at the Long Term Care Facility in honour of our mother.  We've, my sisters and I, have attended a few of these, I'm just not sure I can go on, I'm plum out of tears, and strength.  When I walk into that facility, I don't know ... it remains a very sad atmosphere, I don't know is all I have to say. So if I'm missing from the blogsphere it's because I'm just out of words too.

It's in the genes

As this blog was intended to be research for my novel, I'm finding it hard to not look around at the characters in my life. One such character is my brother-in-law. He is a most reliable guy. I could easily drop the in-law part. But , only if brothers could be fictitious. I don't know of anyone who has a brother that they get along with as well. Actually maybe I'll keep the in-law, it might keep the relationship where it's been. Well because of the relationship with my brother-in-law, we have sort of also adopted his mom. Well Babcia Annie has a birthday today. She's an unusually quiet lady, in some of her old pictures she was quite a looker, always in style. She's had quite a life, WWII was the reason she too came to Canada, but by a different route than my parents. I find that quite interesting. (I'm still thinking historical fiction here). And because I'd like to think mothers have something to do with the way their son's turn out, as I have two, I'd like to say Happy Birthday and Thank You to a lovely lady.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
