Sunday Salon...the Paying guests

On the night stand this week, is The Paying Guests, Sarah Waters, it's a big heavy book, many pages, too heavy to carry around, but... I started the Light Between the Oceans.  I had to stop, and went back the Paying Guests.  I'm a weeper, doesn't take much, just the weather has to change, so the Light Between was book best read in the privace of my own living room.

The Paying guests is a wee bit slow, but I guess I have a great deal more to read to get to the "drama".

It's about that time of year when all the challenges start appearing, I've not been very good at completing them, Except the war through the generations one,  I'm on target with that one, I have great intentions and ALL the books, just not enough days in the week, not to mention that I'm a slow reader.  So while Sunday Salon finds me washing floor, I'll crash later and read a little.  Heck if scrubbing floors is good enough for "Frances"*, it's o.k. for me.

*Frances is a character in the book.

I know it sounds awful that I'm washing floors on Sunday, but I actually find it very relaxing, the "on all fours" relieves the pressure in my back, and I love knowing my floors are really clean for at least 1/2hr. before the guys get home.

I don't know either of these books, but with a big heavy book that you can't carry round and a book to read in private it sounds as though you need a third book to have on the go!!!

Every year I think I won't do any/many challenges and end up joining too many.

Dear Irene! Do not scrub floors on Sunday if it can be helped. Your pretty feet should be up, book open, cup of tea at hand. No heroics on Sundays, or so I always say. xoxo

I agree with Jenny! Sunday should be a day for nothing but Church and chillaxing.
