It's Monday What are you Reading...

It's Monday again, it comes so quickly.  I'm still reading Alzheimer's 911, having  a difficult time picking it up.  Having lived through much of what is described in the book, I also realize that when you are a caregiver for "anyone" Alzheimer's, dementia, or just any illness, many of these coping techniques apply, however, there are many things in the book which I would disagree with and at the time of your coping you/me/caregiver have hardly the energy to go to the bathroom, let alone read a book about "how to do a better job" of caregiving.  I am however ordering a couple of copies for the library, even if this book is too little too late for me, it may help someone else, and that's a good thing.  I wish it was titled something else, though, I think the Alzheimer's title pockets these techniques for just patients with dementia.

Up next:  Rose Under Fire.

I'm sorry you went through that dear Irene, and I must say it is something we all fear and dread happening either to ourselves or to a loved one. I respect and admire your decision to donate a few copies of the book to the library. That is a positive and healthy response to something sad that cannot be changed but which could possibly be different for someone else armed with good information. xoxo

I've been a caregiver for the last 26 years...my husband, his grandmother, my mom and dad. All while raising 3 kids. So I know how hard it is physically and mentally. I wish there were resources for caregivers in my area, but there really isn't any even for the person needing the care. So sad!

I might read this book just because it's for caregivers.

It sounds like a very good book to help caregivers. I took care of my mother for 10 years after my dad passed. I did come across a book I could by that was quite helpful. I bequeathed it to my children so they would have it when it was time to take care of me :D

It sounds very interesting Irene, but yes, I can imagine it could be difficult to read!

And I agree it could be difficult to read while trying to do the care giving too.

Hope all well there.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
