Saturday Snapshot...Progress...?

back panel progress from the look below.
Legs for my coffee table unpainted, just primed with clear Gesso

legs with Cottage Paint, in Creme Brule
Legs with some spots, and some shading

For those of you who are not following this adventure on Facebook.  I'm converting a sewing machine table to a coffee table.  I thought the drawers would work well for remotes and laptop paraphernalia, so far I've removed the ugly legs and sanded and TSP'd the body, purchase funky legs and stripped the top.  The top is real wood, cherry to be precise, so it will likely remain unpainted, but the body was not anything special so I've used my Cottage Paints to play.  I'm not BIG on distressing, so it will be light and not too chippy, perhaps some crackle, I do love crackle. There may be a slight break in assemblage since the garden calls.

Since I started this in the early spring, I noticed many of the ladies shopping around for old sewing machine tables, and cutting off the legs.  I belong to a furniture refinishing group and quite a few of the ladies just like to do this process, not necessarily wanting to keep the item, so they sell stuff, or give it away.  Habitat for humanities came out on our last session and loaded up a truck with newly refinished items.  It's a win win all around.

What an interesting project. Its looking really good so far. How long do you think it will be before you are finished?

I always love to see something creatively done. If the legs are any indication, I think this is going to be unique.
