Sunday Salon...

Sunday Salon finds me crashed on the couch.  Handy Andy has been working nights, and getting home at 5 a.m.  Well he had an exciting night and 5 a.m found him giving a very loud report to his boss on the  activities he witnessed.  And so I was up for hours before I had to.  After church I finished writing my 120 Easter cards, all that's left in the a.m. is to put some stickers on them, and delivery on Wednesday.

This past week I spent four days in the presence of painters.  I painted too.  My first day, I thought, "why did I do this, I suck", but the rest of the week was a blast.  All those classes on colour theory came bouncing back and I love oils, I always did, they are just a stay in your studio kinda medium, and I like to paint with friends.  Taking a bus with a wet oil painting is interesting, good thing it stays wet, I came home and removed some finger prints from the edges.    I can't imagine the coordinator of these events, she must just drop when she gets home.  I remember helping Barbie with her scrapbooking events, and dropping dead the day after.  Fun, but lots of work. As soon as my camera recharges I'll post some pictures of my pieces.  I unintentionally chose to paint flowers this time, all in different mediums.  A good experience.

Finished reading Last of the Mohicans,  James Fenimore Cooper.  What can I say, not really and in depth story of the war I needed to read for my War Through the Generations challenge,  I'll be looking for something else in that time period.  The Last of the Mohicans is the story of Hawkeye and Chingashcook, and his son.  A sad story.  I had to remember my history lesson.  Of coarse, I'm Canadian so the enemy would have been the Americans, not so in this story line so, as you can see it's all in the eyes of the beholder.  Up next, Painted Girls.

I made the mistake today of watching Long Island Medium, I don't really believe in any of these things, but the one thing Teresa says over and over again, "know that your loved one is around you".  I don't always feel that, but sometimes I'll be doing something completely "nothing" and feel my mom around me, it's like a wave and then it's gone.   It's most disturbing.

Easter is only a week away, and spring is still an elusive entity.  Apparently it was 20degrees today, I didn't feel that.  I could have used my gloves this afternoon as I waited for the bus.  My crocus have started to pop their heads through the mulch and as long as the bunnies don't see them, they should be in full bloom by mid week.  I understand they are very tasty.

Plans for the week include some serious baking, and prep for the weekend.

Enjoy your week.

It sounds like you had a good week. I'm looking forward to seeing your paintings - it must be great spending so much concentrated time on it. I go once a week to an art group - I like painting with friends too.

Love your cat.

My mom talks about the Long Island Medium so I watched it out of curiosity one day. I don't believe what she says but she seems to bring people comfort so I guess it's not a totally bad thing.

Sounds like you had a fun time painting!

I've never seen Long Island Medium before.

I feel my mom around all the time. She spent her last few months in bed looking out her window at birds landing on her bird feeders. Since she died I keep finding bird feathers in the strangest places. Mostly in stores...her favorite thing to do was to go shopping.

Crocus are tasty, dear Irene? I hope the bunnies don't sample them and make you testy. I love it that you feel your dear Mom with you sometimes. xoxo and Happy Easter my dear faraway friend.
