Monday Muse...

It's been a busy weekend, after a weekend of setting up and tearing down and the in between stuff at the Creative Festival, all I really want to do is lie down.  It's dark and gloomy here, raining again, and the news around the world is sad.  Yesterday after church I thought I'd check out some spring fashions, I'm desperate for a new coat, and I have a couple of weddings coming up.  Everything I picked up was produced in Bangladesh, I will not be purchasing these items.  I'm hitting my sewing machine.  Made in Canada sounds better to me.  I calculate that if I spent the time I do shopping, sewing, I'd have a new wardrobe for this all too large body in no time, and my kids won't have to look for a home for my fabric acquisitions when they put me in a home.  Watch for an exciting new garment coming to a blog near you soon... We don't seem to have any stores that sell, made in Canada, or U.S.A. fashions, that I can afford, anymore.   The week ahead doesn't seem like I'm likely to rest.  Today is laundry and house cleaning, (I'm really getting tired of doing this), and then back to the shop for Tuesday, I'm working on a tray, with this cool handle that when clasped will pop the legs and Viola, the tray becomes a little table.  I'd like to finish up my bench as well, so I'm going to try to make a pattern for my seat support today, (while waiting for my son to come home from work) I hate that he walks home so late at night, but ... he needs to learn to drive.  Can't seem to stress that to him enough, who ever heard of a young man not driving.  He likes to walk and listen to pod casts.  Weirdo!  Anyway, my bench is completely redone except for the seat cushion.  I'm a little nervous about cutting a 1/2 sheet of plywood type wood for my support, it's big and I'm not so good on a big saw, so hopefully someone will be willing to help me.  I'd like to play with some stains in a pattern of some sort and then just add a couple of cushions for comfort.  We'll see? Beyond that, Thursday is a sad day, we'll be attending a memorial for a friend, who died much too young. Friday, coming up for air and hopefully attending a painting convention, if only for a short time, I'd like to have spent the weekend there but... and Saturday we'll be enjoying a First Communion, a little guy, the son of my husbands Goddaughter, imagine that, I first met this young mom when it was her First Communion.  Time flies.  Life sure deals it's ups and downs. On the reading front I finished The Best Man, a fun read, I needed that just now.  Up next, The Glass Room, Ann Cleaves. Enjoy your week and happy reading.

Irene...you're always so Busy Busy Busy!!

I love reading about all your craft projects and seeing the finished product. My mom and sisters were all so crafty, sewing, crocheting, knitting, art, reupholstering, restoring old furniture. Me, I've never done any of it. I take that back. I did sew some pot holders once. And in school I made a skirt that my mom had to redo. So sad. I'd really love to start doing something. Maybe I need to find some craft books at the library.

Oh, and I love that your son would rather walk than drive (although he really should drive at night instead). I wish I lived in the city where I could walk or bike everywhere. But no, I live 30 miles from town.

I hope you have a great week!

You are busy! I wish I'd persevered with sewing, but I didn't. My mum used to make my clothes and some of hers - the most I've done is knit. I used to knit a lot, but haven't done much for years.

I hope Thursday goes OK and the rest of the week too.

You have a treat coming up with the Glass Room - I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Oh, wow. Pictures!! Pictures!!

I'm glad about your attention to where things are made. It's best that even things of craft be local. I always cringe when I look at tags in the stores. Luckily, I don't consume much, my needs are few.

Rock on with your arty self!
