Mailbox Monday...It's Monday What are you Reading?

Mailbox Monday was created by The Printed Page. It is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their home last week.
Mailbox Monday is currently on tour, hosted by a different blog each month. The March host is Caitlin @ chaotic compendiums.
Today’s Linky is hosted by Kathy @ Bermudaonion’s Weblog.
I think this should really be called"dangerous pastimes while waiting for buses".  Here's what I collected this week.  Paintworks, the current issue, How Tea Cosies Changed the World Loani Prior, Safe Haven, Nicholas, Sparks,  an Agatha Christie fix, Thanks for the Memories, Cecelia Ahern.
My reasons for purchase; well,  Paintworks, because I need the push to paint. How Tea Cosies Changed the World, some of my senior friends knit well but they just do stuff that's so boring, I was hoping to inspire them with something outrageous.  (purchased from Amazon.ca)
Safe Haven was not my choice, again a friend loaned it to me saying it was not that good, but I should read it anyway, Huh? Good thing Josh is on the cover or else!
this stack would have to be a little tidier for me.
Agatha Christie Murder at the Manor, not sure I have this one on my shelf and it was such a nice copy, I know this sounds really awful, but I've been wanting to make a lamp with a pile of Agatha Books. So my boys would remember who my all time favorite author was.  P.S. I'm doing a lamp shade making class so now I need a lamp to work around. ( painting pals book exchange)
Thanks for the memories, Cecelia Ahern, I'm all about memories this past few months, and I needed a newish author for my Ireland Challenge.  (painting pals book exchange)
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, The complete Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer Cookbook.  When I first returned to work (after babies) I set myself a goal of what was a little something extra I wanted, but couldn't justify buying on our budget.  The Stand mixer was on the top of the list, well, you know how you can't teach an old dog new tricks.  That's me.  I have this fabulous mixer that I could have used during my cake decorating days, and now I hardly bake, on account of the mid section spread, but I thought there must be something reasonably healthy I could make using my mixer. So when I saw this book at a very reasonable price, (and I had nothing to read on the bus). Viola! (I have no attachments for my machine, hopefully one can substitute).

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. Share what you read last week and what you are currently reading.
I finished reading  'The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold FrY", Rachel Joyce.  I haven't read too many books this year, yet, but I must say so far this is a top ten possibility. It was a recommendation by Bibliophile By the Sea books. I'm glad I finished reading it at home, since I needed tissues.  When my children were little and they cried, I use to have a jar in their rooms to collect the tears so they'd have enough  tears for the really important things.  I think I may have filled several jars of late.  You'd think  a body would run out.  Seems that is not so.

Anyway, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry is the story of Harold Fry who one day receives a disturbing letter from a friend he has not seen for many years.  He responds with a letter and sets off to mail/post it.  He doesn't stop walking, as he passes post box  after post box, he decides to walk to the other side of the country, instead of mailing the letter to visit with his friend.  We learn all about Harold throughout his journey.  A heart warming, story of real life, albeit a little British, just a good story.  No earth shattering and scary bits, just life. I'd recommend this book to anyone who has ever had to deal with heartbreak, parent hood, or marital uncertainty.  That sort of covers everybody except Vampires.   (Betty Whites says all stories are better with Vampires, well this one is Very Good without them).

Top 10 for Harold Fry! Hurrah!! And also "it's not that great but read it anyway?" LOL! Obviously your friend doesn't know about the whole "too many books not enough time" thing. ;)

That book sounds very interesting Irene! Will have to see about finding a copy.

The tea cosy book was written by a lady near where I live. She is such a funny lady. One of my friends who loves to knit, knitted her way through a couple of her books, to sell the cosies in aid of Motor Neurone Disease. (I think you call it ALS or Lou Gerhigs disease over there). Very sadly, her husband had died of the disease.

Sorry to hear there have been lots of tears. I am crying with you! I was always grateful to my doctor who said I was completely normal, when I cried so much after a bereavement.

That DOES sound like a good read. No vampires at all necessary, dear Irene.
