Wednesday Wanderings... Cemetery Stylings...

the topper I created for my husband's grandparents.
A million years ago, when I began my adventure as a floral designer, I was assigned the task of memorial wreaths.  This consisted of taking sprigs of these green fern like artificial  things and wiring and attaching this to a toothpick like stick.  My hands were emerald green well into the Christmas season and beyond.  I decided this was not my style of floral design and immediately never did this kind of thing again.  When my dad died some 35 years ago my mom would check to see we purchased a memorial wreath to her liking. Now while we are mindful of her desires, we do our own thing.  I do my own wreaths, headstone toppers, so as to stay up to date with these styling one can look around and check out the cemetery.  It's quite a "circle of criticism".  When my mom was widowed, you would wonder if the "widow" could afford a proper wreath and such.  Well now all those that wondered are just as old as she is and I'm not sure they care. So I thought after my visit this week at the cemetery I'd show you some of my designs.
my sister bought the monument topper, I created the wreath.

Well dear Irene, you know how I feel about cemeteries, and I ALWAYS notice the flowers. Yours are beautiful and so well done, as I would expect. I love to examine everything left at graves, but the flowers are always the most eloquent.

Very well done --- tasteful and thoughtful. I never really thought too much about this type of floral design.

Those are very sweet and pretty. It's nice that you are able to be creative that way.

Lovely wreath! I used to work in a flower shop and my mother was one of the designers. There is a lot of mess and craziness behind the scenes especially at Valentine's day and mothers day, and it's hard to believe the waste and also the stains on fingers! And sore hands!

I was weird; I always loved funeral sprays and wreaths and the warm colors, and I would often want to have that kind of thing at home on the table! But I never forgot that it was usually a bit much, and that the simpler arrangements were often much better as a showcase for love and remembrance.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
