Sunday Salon...

Well where has the week gone?, for that matter where has the summer gone.  We're feeling the onset of fall, in the mornings and evenings, it's cooler and cools down quite quickly.  I'll be making pots of soups soon, to keep warm, not just to use up my harvest.  This week was an exciting time, I enjoyed helping my niece and nephew move into their new home.  I have to say I didn't think I had it in me.  My sister and I climbed on the counter to give the top of the kitchen cupboards a refreshing wipe.  In the old days I wouldn't have needed a ladder, I did this time.  But still, I did it. I must say I wasn't even aching the next day.  It's so nice to see the excitement in a young family in their new neighbourhood. But, what a lot of work.  I'm never moving. I am going to climb on my counter and give my cupboards a refreshing wipe though.  We, my sister and I, both had the urge yesterday to clean cupboards.  I took an Advil and the urge passed. On the garden front, I'm sitting here enjoying what might well be the last of my rose blooms, no complaints this year, my flowers did awesome,  my lawn, not so much.  I had a list of to do on my fridge from the beginning of summer and I must admit, little got check off.  Other than hauling out my canning jars, I've not made a dent in my garage, or my studio, and I still have no living room curtains.  Good thing my garden did so well, mother nature has provided me with the privacy I need.  I did however, paint my little heart out.  I hesitate or should I say I procrastinate putting up curtains, since I love to paint in that room, it has great natural light, I really live in my living room, it's definitely not for show. But winter is coming and the leaves will leave the trees and you know the rest. On the reading front, I've been reading the Crimson Rooms all week!. not that it's not good, it's just not enough sitting time.  I should finish today.  We're off to brunch with guests from Latvia today, I finally convinced my husband he should spend some time with them.  I'll post pictures next week.  I'll be reading This is Where I Leave You, by Jonathan Trooper this upcoming week.  And I'm hoping that this week moves slower than the rest.  It's back to school for the kids this Tuesday, I only have one going back, I HOPE.  So I'll be a maid for the rest of the year to my other one. We'll have to get back into a rhythm for that as well.  Have a pleasant week, enjoy the rest of this warmth, and read something interesting.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't getting their to-do list done, LOL! I loved it when you said you took an Advil and the urge passed - too funny!!!

It sounds like you've been very busy! I needed that reminder about the cupboards (or in this case the stove hood). I'm so short that I can't see up there without standing on a chair, and sometimes I forget that it gets dusty (and that taller people than I can see it when they walk through).

I should clean cupboards too but if an Advil helps the urge pass, that will be my remedy!

That was so nice of you to help your family move into their new home. I dread the thought of moving....I would need more then a bottle of Advil to pop all day to get me going with cleaning those cupboards. But you are funny "took an Advil and the urge passed."
I also plan to clean them cupboards...my daughter will help as she is off school for a year and helps me a lot....plus she's tall and doesn't need a ladder like me.
....have a great Labour day!!!!

I'm with you - when I get an urge like that, I wait until it passes.

When I was younger (with 3 little ones) I could pack up a house, unpack in the new house and have everything put away in just a few hours. Now, it'd take me weeks to get it all finished. I just don't have the energy I used to have, and have more stuff.

Yes, the weather is changing fairly rapidly here too...in the opposite direction. Although the nights are still fairly cool, the days are warming up nicely. I know it won't be too long before I am complaining it is too hot! Your garden sounds great! And the painting too!

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
