Mailbox MOnday... clearly I need a new mailbox...

Book Description from Amazon.CA

July 14 2009 Chaos Walking (Book 1)
Todd Hewitt is the only boy in a town of men. Ever since the settlers were infected with the Noise germ, Todd can hear everything the men think, and they hear everything he thinks. Todd is just a month away from becoming a man, but in the midst of the cacophony, he knows that the town is hiding something from him -- something so awful Todd is forced to flee with only his dog, whose simple, loyal voice he hears too. With hostile men from the town in pursuit, the two stumble upon a strange and eerily silent creature: a girl. Who is she? Why wasn't she killed by the germ like all the females on New World? Propelled by Todd's gritty narration, readers are in for a white-knuckle journey in which a boy on the cusp of manhood must unlearn everything he knows in order to figure out who he truly is.

My thoughts:  Perhaps I read this book too soon after Stephan KIngs, The Stand, and while I felt Todd's confusion as to WHY he was being chased, I just am not sure I'll be picking up book 2 of the Chaos Walking Book.  A relatively  long book, chaos takes a long time to write about, I suppose, but it does move along much faster than The Stand, but equally as bloody.  Some problems just won't die.

I received nothing in my Mailbox this week, and I mean NOTHING not even the paper.  I hauled all my books this week from the library.  My back aches.  Mailbox Monday, a meme started by Marcia and hosted by Jennifer of 5 Minutes for Books this August.

I am not familiar with this book, but I don't think it would be for me either.

Great to catch up here , after having been a little busy...love the grand niece's head board for the bed...lovely!

So glad it cooled down for you.

The weather has become pleasant again here for us after quite an unusually cool winter. My daughter is shifting into the house they bought...what a job, and so soon after their other big move. Exhausting...and I have the easy part of looking after the one year old! Nice to have some time off while she sleeps.

I didn't care for this one when I read it and haven't been interested in continuing on with the series. I did hear they will be making it into a movie but I didn't like the continual chasing in the book.

I love big library hauls. It's the next best thing to a full mailbox. ;)
