Sunday Salon...OCH the heat...

The goal this summer will be to actually use a couple of chairs outdoors and read, but it's been so hot.  Today's temperatures promise to be very high. This week I actually read a little more of the Stand than I thought I would, never have I struggled with a book like this, not even Musachi, I'm getting to the end now and glad of it. It's not bad, but certainly to this point not "award winning" in my estimation.  Don't you wonder what Stevie King was like as a child.  He had to be a little creepy to have all these thoughts.  I think if I were his mom I'd have been worried. I'm giving myself till next Sunday, and if I'm not finished I'm quitting.

Other than the usual household disasters of the pond draining itself, and the AC needed adjustment, I read on the road trips I took this week. I was away from home for 4 days in that respect, but even not having anything to do on a bus didn't inspire me more than for a few pages on the "book". Not much cooking happening, I just cannot bring myself to put on the oven. I've mostly been on the seek and find mission around here.  I've got my little grand nieces headboard ready to prep, hopefully in the a.m.  and my book marks are ready for embellishment and mailing off to Chris for our bookmark exchange, found my jam jars, actually I knew where they were I just couldn't reach them.  I had to move the engine block out of the way and the snowblower, and then I could climb on the roof of the car to get them.  Now of course I have everything sitting in my front hallway awaiting my attention.  I'm off to mass today, it's the 34th anniversary of my dad's death.  His premature death is a good reason for everybody to stop smoking.  Plans for the upcoming week include spending a day with my friend Janice, don't know if we'll make it to the greenhouses, it's going to be the hottest day of the year, we may just sit and yak.  We can do that for hours. And the rest of the week will be to catch up around here.  I'm off to the postoffice, have a great week, read something.

It has been too hot here to cook as well. I think it will last all summer! ;o)

It is always hard when an anniversary of a loved one's death comes around.

Have a great week.

We went blueberry picking this morning and the sweat was just rolling down us.

I"m sorry The Stand isn't working for you … I remember enjoying it back in the day.

I hope it cools off for you soon! We've been so fortunate with our weather here in Oregon this year (at least in my neck of the woods).

Dear Irene, never have I known anyone with so many irons in the fire. As it happens I read a book by Stephen King about the craft of writing, and in it he talks about his childhood. It was kind of sad but the main thing is, he always wanted to be a horror writer. He took lots of guff and flak from teachers who shamed him for years until he finally said, this is what I like to write and this is what I'm going to write. His wife Tabitha dug his first manuscript, Carrie, out of the trash where he'd thrown it. The rest is publishing history, if not necessarily literary history. My condolences on the loss of your dad. I lost mine young too. Stay cool chickie!

Well, I have to tell you right now that those bookmarks are amazing! I am taking pics of everything and sharing them bit by bit. I'm so glad you contributed to our arty mailart campaign!

As for heat, it's horrifying here! It's humid too! There's absolutely NO reading outside. Nosiree! But we've been lucky because it's been very temperate until now.

I like Stephen King a lot. But I do have to wonder who lets those thoughts develope to the point that they actually make it to the page in great detail.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
