It's
Brenda's photo challenge time again, and
Saturday SnapShot as well. The theme this week is Antiques. I have a nice little collection of antiques around our home, (including me), so like
Donna it was a little difficult to choose, so I thought I'll post my first(furniture) antique. I received it partly as a gift from my friend Mary, for one of my teen birthdays, can you imagine a teenager wanting an antique mirror. I won't post the whole thing, because I just can't take a decent photo of it without getting my pjs and bare legs in it. This is the top of one side and the leaves on the sides are the photo two.
And now my most recent additions. My "new" favourite is this print of Lassie Come Home. It has a little water damage from it's previous owner, but I'm working on finding a solution for that, (if anyone knows of one, please help), otherwise I think I may just put a mat around it.
And the most most recent addition are this stack of books, (book sale last week, they were getting chucked, and I rescued them). So what's next, don't know antique road show next weekend.

I love the mirror piece, it looks like art nouveau to me, must be early 20th century.
Nice collection!
Sue.
An unusual mirror, I like it.
Love the top of the mirror!
I love your mirror, the print looks very interesting and I'm sure you'll have fun going through those old books.
What beautiful carving on that mirror! And I'm always a sucker for antique books...
Love the carving on the mirror! And I can't resist books--antique or not.
Here's my Snapshot.
Cool.
I love that Lassie print!
Lovely scrollwork on that mirror!
The curlicue on the mirror is just grand! You have great tastes! I agree with Sue that it looks like art nouveau style. I'm not sure that it is worth trying to fix the water damage on the charming print. It really becomes part of its character! Thank you for these splendid antique examples and also the shout out to little ol' me, LOL.
The Lassies Come Home is sweet. The mirror is great as well.
That is unique for a teen girl to want an antique mirror. You must have developed your love of antiques early on.
Wonderful old mirror. The carvings on it are very unusual and beautiful. I also love the books! Great photos!
Is the wood mahogany? -durable, shines, almost unbreakable, and beautiful. The designs are wonderful.
Bless your good heart for restoring the books.
The wood is beautiful! Your post made me reflect on the contents of my house and I realize that the oldest things I own are a bookcase and a couple of books. I guess that's not all that surprising.
I love beautiful antiques, the older the better...and a little damage only makes them more precious.
I once had a dining room set that resembled the pattern of your first photo. Loved that piece!
Old books are always a treasure. Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
Love that Lassie photo! And I agree with Donna...I think it just adds to the photo.
Great shots!
The wood pieces are gorgeous!
