I was inspired by this wonderful post, at Love, Laughter and a Touch of Insanity, so I had to immediately run down to my studio and get this little binder I had painted a number of years ago with the intention of compiling a cookbook for my nieces who became cooks for themselves and that's as far as it went. But, this Christmas, as one of my nieces has set out on her own, I'd really like to give her the recipes she always asks about. Thanks so much Trish for the push. Trish posted this to Beth Fish Reads meme Weekend Cooking and I'm adding it to my Saturday Snapshot hosted by Alyce at At Home with Books. I don't think I'll be cutting and pasting my recipes as Trish did, I've got mine in printable format, since the original plan was to put them into a hand bound book (which is a huge challenge and thus not anywhere near finished) So perhaps I'll print off the initial set and send off a monthly version, and keep in touch with a niece that is all grown up. I've added little personal notes at the bottom of my recipes, like the first time I made this recipe, or who gave it to me that sort of thing. BUT I'm open to suggestions. The front of this book is a canvas covered binder upon which I did a pen and ink drawing, all but one of my nieces are cat lovers so I think they'll be o.k. with this interpretation.
P.S. I'm still struggling with this little keyboard, so if there are strange links please for give me. It's all too frustrating.

Your cat pic is fabulous. You did a wonderful job painting it. I'm sure your nieces will appreciate the personal effort you put into it.
Hi Irene,
E tu, come và ?
In questi giorni stò leggendo :
" 22/11/'63 " di Stephen King.
Baci ed abbracci Myriam :))
What a great notebook. You painted that? I'm impressed. A great gift for a family member. I think Trish raised the bar very, very high.
What a lovely, personal gift -- your cat pic is amazing :)
Hi! Thanks for stopping by! I asked all the family members to send me their favourite recipes and they promised but I'm still waiting...
BTW I worked in Mississauga until July!!
I'm following you now.
Adorable! And what a lovely gift...thanks for sharing.
And thanks for visiting my blog.
That's a great gift! I gave a blank cookbook to my father years ago, so he could compile all of his mother's recipes and his own (he's a great cook) and pass them down.
Here's my snapshot.
Beautiful.
Your personal notes at the bottom of the page add to the warm quality of the cookbook.
What talent you have; so very very cute.
That is so lovely and with the personal touch :)

What a wonderful idea! I'm sure your niece will cherish this personal gift :)
How about at the end of the recipes add memories you have of them..
Everyone loves memories, especially good ones.
Thank you for the comment you left. I am sad your Mom doesn't remember you. I cried when I read that.
I wanted to give you a hug.
I send you one now.
Love Nita
