Encircled by light...

Today is the feast of St. Lucia, my niece in Poland is the lead in this procession, the one with the candles encircling her head hope alll goes well with her performance.  What a lovely feast day.

Saint Lucy, you did not hide your light under a basket, but let it shine for the whole world, for all the centuries to see. We may not suffer torture in our lives the way you did, but we are still called to let the light of our Christianity illumine our daily lives. Please help us to have the courage to bring our Christianity into our work, our recreation, our relationships, our conversation -- every corner of our day

St. Lucy is the patron saint of the blind.

Irene.....this looks so lovely the whole ceremony. How lucky can your niece be to be honoured in this position.
I have never heard of this Saint but will ask my sister-in-law who is Polish. But I don't think she has any relatives in Poland, they have been here so long.

Thanks fo sharing this nice video, have a great day!!!!

She did so well! I don't know how she stood so still, dear Irene. Just beautiful. You are a cool aunt.

It is a lovely celebration … as well as one tinged with an element of danger due to the fire!

We celebrated Santa Lucia Day once (because we were exploring our Danish heritage). I dressed my daughter in white and put a circle of candles on her head. When I look back at pictures it scares me to death to see all that fire next to her hair--how do they make their crowns so sturdy? Anyway thanks for sharing.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
