Postcard Friendship Friday... Rememberance Day 2011

Remembrance Day the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Today's postcard is one my dad had sent to my mom.  My dad was in the battle of Monte Casino.

We here in Canada today honour our veterans and service men and women by wearing the poppy. Hug a Vet today, I can't my dad is no longer with us, but I'll be hugging the next best thing, his grandson, even if it's just a virtual hug.
I don't like my picture being taken.

Postcard Friendship Friday is hosted by Beth at The Best Hearts Are Crunchy.
I have to leave you with a little light music.http://www.insidehalton.com/news/article/1240178--burlington-
s-singing-vet-lights-up-appleby-go-station  I've been at Appleby Go Station, and it's cold, hope he wore his wooly socks.  And the video is not such light music.

Lovely card! I saw some of those graves earlier this year. It's sobering.

I grew up in the UK where we also wear poppies...
In Italy, where I live now, the end of the war is commemorated on 4 November, the day of the Armistice of Villa Giusti...
