I didn't think I had ever seen a lovelier morning, or was it that I noticed for the first time?  I told myself the ominous sounds in the morning had not really happened and all was well with the world.

But it was not.

This little booklet is a collection of stories about the Second World War, by Miep Verkley.  In my adventures at the Library I came across it and brought it home for my husband to read.  His nickname is Rooster, he is not a reader, I'm trying hard to make him one.  He's read 3 pages this week. I cannot believe it.  I think I would have finished it by the time the potatoes came to a boil.  This looks like a self-published book.
Enjoy your Friday.

I dedicate this post to my Dad, Andrew, I don't think I ever saw him sit and read, but he most certainly could have told some of these stories.  It's 33 years today that he passed away.

Odd 56 if you don't know the story behind it. Thanks for participating!

Your dad's name was Andrew? I love that name. You were so young when he passed away! I imagine he was relatively young too. I never had a dad so I love to hear father-daughter tidbits. I'm sure you have many fond memories. I am praying for your mom, dear Irene.

That seems like an extremely personal booklet!

:) "I think I would have finished it by the time the potatoes came to a boil." -- good luck!

It sounds like it is not going to be a good day. Interesting 56, a personal account of WWII stories perhaps?

Your dad sounds a lot like mine, I never saw him read a book either but he could tell some great stories.

This post is touching. Is the book your quote is from a memoir of the war? Your husband must have been a serviceman, if they call him Rooster? My dad was gone when I was 13. My mom when I was 28. It's odd how it feels so recent.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
