Teaser Tuesday Plus...

I'm reading Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah.  Not at all what I expected.  I try not to read other peoples reviews when the book is on my shelf, I note them and go back to read them, but... Why do I bring this up you ask?  Well my parents and uncle were taken to Siberia during th WWII. and when they talked about stuff, as a kid, you really didn't believe them.  One of the conversations was about bodily damages.  My mother's feet were frozen during the pursuit of some food, onions as I recall. To this day her toe nails are not okay some 70 years later.   So you can imagine when I read this part of the book I knew of what the author wrote, she captured the feeling ...

Here is my teaser... Winter Garden

She hears a loud whistling and starts to run for one of the trenches in the park to her left.  Before she is even across the street, something explodes.  dirt and debris rain down from the sky. One building after another is destroyed.

And then...silence.

Vera gets up slowly, her legs unsteady.
The potatoes are okay.
