Does this ever happen to you, you really want to read a book, you love all the elements, and yet it just doesn't happen. I had to return The Diamond today to the library shelves, I just couldn't give it any more time. I so enjoyed The Josephine B trilogy, that I thought o.k. this is going to be good, I'll get a slice of Napoleon in exile, well I just couldn't get past 90 pages, and that was a struggle. I was reading this to meet the What's in a Name Challenge. Guess I'll have to find something else with a "jewel/gem in the title. So I'm on to my next read...

It happens a lot. I set certain expectations and then get frustrated at times. Hope your next book is better.
I remember how much you liked the Josephine B books ... how strange you didn't like this one. I love diamonds.
Better to stop than to press on. And if you need a good jewel book, I read Garlic and Sapphires by Ruth Reichl. It is about her time as the restaurant reviewer for The New York Times and all the disguises she wore to be unnoticed. It was a fun and light read.
Hi Irene,
buona domenica e felice lettura !
Purtroppo a causa del mio lavoro, ultimamente trascuro tutti i miei hobby !
Grazie delle tue visite, è sempre un piacere leggerti amica mia :)
