How did I get myself into this?

I've neglected my blog, my reading and my house work (oh well the housework isn't going anywhere).  A very long time ago when I was volunteering in my children's school library I met my Anna.  Anna is our local school board trustee.  When Anna needed some help with an election she was co-coordinating she called and asked if I would be interested in helping.  I assumed this was another volunteer position, and hesitated, but since I really had to thank Anna for some help she gave me with the school system I felt somewhat obligated and said yes.  Well you can imagine my surprise when I got paid, and paid well.  I've been involved ever since.  Recently I've jumped from the federal election process to the provincial one as well.  I don't know why we can't just share information, oh yes I do.  Anyway as I had already completed my pre election tasks, with my faithful assistant/supervisor (we take turns in this position) Kim, we were recruited by another electoral district to help.  One thing I have to say about election co-ordinators they don't give you the "WHOLE' job description.  They don't tell you about the "speed or lack of it" by other agencies, they don't tell you some of the superintendents of buildings wiho have had a few refreshing alcoholic beverages prior to meeting with you, they don't tell you they're changing the software so hurry up... So for the last week we have been "hurrying up". All this whilst slipping in a "floral arrangement" commitment for a wedding, and my mother's Christmas happening.  I'm ready to cancel Christmas, and just pull a Rip Van Winkle.

Well, at least you are getting paid (right ... you're still getting paid?) And I personally believe that NO JOB in the world comes with full disclosure ahead of time or no one would work. : )

How wonderful that you are getting paid! It's a crazy time of year to be busy with a job, so your frustration is quite understandable! Take deep breaths and try to enjoy at least a little bit of this magical season!
