Happy Thanksgiving...

Just when you start to count your blessings, remember those among us who's lives have not been so blessed.  Or are we just greedy?  Today is our U.S.A. friends Thanksgiving, what am I thankful for you ask?  I'm thankful that my husband has relations in the U.S.A. and he's GONE to spend the holidays with them.  I get the quiet all to myself.  Should I be thankful for this? Many people feel alone at these times, and I too seem to notice the aloneness from time to time.  But, not today, today I have so much housework that I'm not sure where to begin, so I've sat down (after putting my first load of wash in )with my coffee, and this little tool to think.  The floors need washing badly, the kitchen gets disinfected every Thursday, and the sheets need changing also a Thursday chore, and as I spent Monday with my Husband the Monday chores didn't get done, so toilets it is.  I know I'll get distracted so I've lined up my books on tape so I stay in the room where I need to be.
And then I'll tell you I'm grossly behind in my Musashi read along.  I should be posting my   review this weekend but it's not going to happen.  I hadn't finished it and it was time to return it to the library, my sweet son signed it out so I could finish it.  He's getting back at me already, I never let them not finish a book.  So it'll be a Musashi evening, I'm kinda starting to really dislike samurai.  I want to just smack them upside the head and say " forget the honour crap, killing is killing".  I'm not sure I'm enjoying this book, I'm sticking with it because in spite of all the killing and honour stuff, it really is a love story, or at least that's what I'm seeing.  I want to know if he gets the girl or not.  And it's an honour thing, my guys are thinking their "old" mother just reads pulp fiction. Huh!  I'm going to finish this even if I need a new hip, it's so heavy to carry around.  This is the first year I've binged reading, and I think I'll be a little more careful what I challenge myself with.  I've enjoyed spreading my wings, but then again, I'm not a fast reader. Next year I'm reading more Canadian authors, just for support.  I may even get into reading to choose prize winners, I need to belong to some literary group but that's not a big deal.  Look at me making New Years Resolutions and it still November.  Happy Thanksgiving to all of my U.S. bloggers, and I'm off to do stuff. On the reading/listening menu is The Crossing, Cormac McCarthy.

Why thank you Irene. I hope you enjoy your quiet time. I know exactly what you mean and it's always good to have time to oursleves. Besides, he "children" tend to get underfoot and distract us from what needs to be done.

I'm so impressed that you've stuck with Musashi ... it isn't the easiest read (physically) and it could have used a bit of editing I think. If nothing else, I hope you get a sense of accomplishment from finishing.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
