You know how...

You know how they say men marry their mothers, WELL! I think in part this may be true. I'm off to pull weeds this morning, and my hubby is off to a International Clam Bake. What's wrong with this picture? (I'd rather spend the day with the weeds than with a bunch of drunken boarder guards) It's the beginning of the G8/G20 conference, I wonder if they've rescheduled and just didn't tell him. He! He!

Anyway back to being my mother in law's replacement. My mother in law can grow just about anything. She does however have no sense of design, so her garden is a jungle. She often tells me that she gives her plants a year to bloom, if they don't out they go. I'm a little more patient, or perhaps I just have more important things to think of, like reading a good book. (I'm designing a reading corner in my yard, away from neighbors peeking in to see what I'm doing)
I received this "Blue Nile" rose for a housewarming gift from my sister and brother in law, when we moved into our house 24years ago. It grows. It blooms one flower a year, usually early spring. Last year I thought that's it, you don't give me more than one bloom and your outa here! Well, maybe it heard me. I've now had several waves of blooms. Lucky for it eh! We've had a great deal of rain over the last 2 days so it's a jungle out there. Off to pull some stuff out.

LOL if men marry their mothers my man married the wrong woman. His mother and I are about as similar as chalk and cheese. A reading corner in your garden, free from prying eyes? Heaven. I'm no stripe of a gardener but I love to read outside. I've always wanted a secret walled garden. You did the right thing staying home. I'm a homebody too.
