Where does time go indeed!

A Million years ago this was me, and my assigned partner was my now brother-in-law Rick. As I recall this was a performance of the Polonaise at some Mayor's gala, Mayor Victor Copps (father of Sheila Copps) at the Connaught Hotel in Hamilton. Well Victor Copps is now long dead, Sheila is a retired MP, and the Connaught is a dump. I'm 55 years old and my brother in law, although he still has brown hair (ha, ha )is also in his 50's. We are both much, much heavier, and I'm sure we wouldn't remember how to do the Polonaise if we tried. Yes it's my birthday today. If I could freeze time, I think this is the age I would like to freeze my appearance at, I would love to wear those gowns daily, and I most certainly would like to continue to dance the Polonaise, even if it were just occasionally. Those were good times. My dad would drive us around from practice to performance, my mom sewed all the costumes,my friend Mary did our hair. As I passed through the decades(don't I sound old) I'd have loved to freeze time when my boys were younger, my husband happier and me with more energy. Alas it is not my gift to freeze time. So I shall delight in the fact that I'm healthy enough to eat a lot of cake on my Birthday, even if I have to bake it myself, I'll play in my studio, while the wash is being done, and I'll eat out with my favorite men, even if I'm related to them. I'll go to bed when I feel like it, with an nice nightcap of course. Listen to my favorite music and reminisce. So happy birthday to me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO IRENE, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

Why would you want to freeze time? Look at how wonderfuly your boys have grown and how much life experience you have gained since those Polonaise days! I still remember you with that fake braid and we may still have some of that costume material left over in our mother's house. Anyways, have a wonderful day with whatever you choose to do today. Happy 55th Irene! Love your sister Alice and your p/t hubby Mitch.

Happy Birthday to you Irene. I am remembering what Pani Drazik said to me a short while ago. She said the 50's were a favorite time in her life. She raised her family, still felt great and was able to let go and enjoy life. Wishing you the same for your 50's and well into your 60's and so on. Love Barbara and family.

Just to let you know, I still have that dress, and I do fit into it, a little more cleavage than in the photo, but you know how she always left room for growth with our clothes, well it paid off.

That song is so hilarious! Now it's in my brain. We'll have to sing along next time we take a road trip!

Happy Birthday. Glad to hear that you plan to make cake! OH! YES!!
I'll bring the cupcakes too!!!

Oh, and by the way...you do look a bit Marie Antoinette-ish in that dress! I always thought there was a bit of a resemblance!:)

You are soooo cute. Just like now.
