Sunday Salon...I'm thinking again.

Sunday Salon finds me thinking again... It's a family joke.  When our eldest was quite young and now too, he'd come up with these outrageous ideas, usully very clever, but outrageous for his dad to comprehend, (he has comprehension issues,) and the response to Daniel's "Dad, I was thinking..." usually was "oh no, there you go thinking, again".  Imagine a parent not being delighted with his child thinking.  Well if you got to know Daniel, you would know it would require get amounts of work, time, and money, and most of all space.  So I'm thinking again...

Last month, one of our local painting groups Harbourside Painters hosted a luncheon.  It was a fundraiser.  You see the painters do all kinds of community events and this was to fund those activities.  Well, above and beyond a delicious and generous luncheon, each member was asked to contribute 2 gift baskets, each containing a least one painted item.  Each gift basket, (there were 147) contained the painted item i.e. wine glasses, then a bottle of wine or painted flower pot with garden gloves and the  like.  I'm not even describing this well enough, they were very generous.  These were raffled off, then there was a silent auction, also some lovely art work, watercolours and big oil paintings.  Then, as if that were not enough, each table was sponsored by a member, in a theme.  My friend Jane did winter in April, which was very appropriate, since it was just starting to go away, winter that is.  She painted lovely placemats for each of her 8 guests, with lovely painted snowflake placecards, and a centerpiece in the same theme.  I really enjoyed myself at this event, and thought I'd like to do a table for the next luncheon and invite my sister's and nieces to come to lunch, so I'VE BEEN THINKING.  Since, I'd like to leave a piece of art work to each of the members in my family I thought this might be better than leaving them something when I "no longer paint".  The idea is to have a theme... one that is not always obvious,

Here are my thoughts:

On a Wing and a Prayer          In a Flutter           Twisted Sister   You Are My Sunshine              It's a |Jungle out there              Sometimes I feel like a Flake

My Mother had a Garden         Bring Your Own BOOs

You light up my life.    Wise Men Still Seek HIM

Since this is a fair bit of painting I need to decide soon.  The bolded thoughts are the one's I have the most inspiration for... there are usually 8 at a table.
and my last idea was FORGET ME NOT...

My only problem is,  I have no control over the date of this event and I suspect some of my special guest will not be available to attend.  But hey! you'd don't come to the party,... you don't get the gift.

P.S.  I'm sitting here writing this very early in the day, can't sleep, my back is killing me, and thinking "why isn't that Advil working"? Go into the kitchen and there it sits on the counter...  Sometimes I feel like a flake?

love the idea and I'm sure they will come. As far as the backache, I had two disks fused with a bone from my hip and it was the best thing I could do. If you get to that point, don't hesitate to have surgery.

Well it's funny you ended with that, because hands down the one I would pick is Sometimes I Feel Like a Flake. And I know all too well, dear Irene, what it's like when the Advil doesn't work.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
