Mailbox Monday...

Welcome to Mailbox Monday, a meme started by Marcia and hosted by Jennifer of 5 Minutes for Books this August. With the heat and no rain we've been experiencing I'm trying to preserve a much of summer as I can in a jar, so I'm writing this post while waiting for my peaches to cool, so I can pack them into a jar for my son, who lives in the concrete jungle, and I'm sure is not eating enough fruits and vegetables.

My mailbox was fuller than usual, since I'm suppose to be reading off my shelves.  But who can resist! I'm sure none of these are new releases, as they were mostly passed along from my friends at the painting studio.  I'm still sort of devastated by the death of Maeve Binchy. I'll miss her desperately.  Now I'll have to make sure I have all her books, so in my more senior years I can revisit with her.  I find that many of the readers using the library at my mother's nursing home tend to reach for a familiar author, and I'm sure I will too.

I was sad to read about Maeve Binchy, too; I always enjoy her books. They are like comfort reads. I have a couple of them on my stacks.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and enjoy your week.

Awww, dear Irene. I'm not surprised you were deeply affected by the passing of Maeve Binchy. I too have enjoyed her books over the years. And she was so young! A great loss.

I've never read her, but so many people mentioned to me how they're going to miss her. HOw can so many of my friends read her when I don't?! This is so ODD!

But that's not the point. The point is... peaches?! strawberries?! I just ate breakfast and I'm hungry again.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my wonderful son,  it's bee 33wonderful years. Hope this year proves to be the best yet.
